Our Story
A better way to moisturize
Can a moisturizer really save time, your skin, and the planet? We think so.
drenchbar® was founded on the simple belief that taking care of your skin doesn’t have to come at the expense of the environment or your own enjoyment. We set out to disrupt the cold, unpleasant process of putting on conventional lotion and give the world a better way to softer, healthier skin. We are reinventing body care. And we’re doing it in a way that is more sustainable, travel-friendly, skin-friendly, and fun.
A better way starts at home
Leah Smolensky, Founder
“drenchbar® is a story of loss, rebirth and reconnection. It’s a story of the powerful legacy a mother can leave, even after death.”
Leah Smolensky is a career advertising executive who has worked on leading global brands for almost twenty years. She is an innovator in her field. Leah got her start as a product development intern at a large cosmetics corporation in Gurnee IL, never imagining she would return to that field, or the role that internship would play in realizing her dreams.
But Leah’s journey doesn’t really start there. It starts much earlier, with her mother.
My Story
My mother died of cancer when I was just 17. The idea behind drenchbar® is the culmination of all of the lessons she taught me: the value of an entrepreneurial spirit for women with kids; the power of design to elicit change; that your body is a temple; and that love is the most important ingredient to any recipe. My mother was the strongest woman I know. She put herself in remission from her first bout with cancer through diet, meditation, and love alone.
After becoming a mom myself, I felt a strong message from my mother to try a new path. When I had the idea for drenchbar®, inspired by my own children’s sensitive skin and post-bath meltdowns and galvanized by the Reddit skincare community, I knew this was it.
To all the moms without moms out there, you are amazing. drench on.
